Rehearsal and Studio :: The road to completion

After months of songwriting we entered Lionheart studio in early Desember, to start the recording of our debut-album. We want to share this process with all of you interested, so here we will post videos, pictures and info from rehearsals and the following studio sessions, from now and abit into the new year.

24.10.10 - "First rehearsal before studio"

Finally.. after months of songwriting and getting small details in place, it was time for our first rehearsal together as a full band again. With the addition of Sigbjørn Galåen on synth and Vegard Amundsen on guitar, we drove to Tønsberg early sunday morning to rehearse four of the new songs to be recorded. Each member had learned their parts in advance, so we met up to play through the songs and figure out possible changes, dilemmas etc. A couple of the songs we played were "Origin", which we have played live earlier, and an 8-minute epic called "The Expedition", and a couple more straightforward songs. It was exciting hearing these songs "live" in rehearsal, because apart from Origin we havent played the other songs together. Overall it went quite well, there were some discussion regarding certain parts, like tempo, different drum patterns and such, but we figured out the best solution. More juice details about the songs will be posted soon.

There is quite an amount of musical material to be learned, and I think the average song length is around six minutes-ish.. but in my opinion we have a good variety on the album. Some "shorter" more straightforward songs, and some progressive "epic" songs that are 7+ minutes. We have compiled a short video from our first rehearsal and hope you will enjoy it. Due to some camera issues there arent alot of song footage, but we will show more after our next rehearsal later in November when we rehearse through the final songs to appear on the album. More info regarding the process, album, concept etc will be posted soon. Thanks for your patience and enjoy!

Cheers, Morten & Frail Grounds
